The Federal Government president, Muhammadu Buhari has reduced the JAMB Form price 2019 from Five thousand naira (N5,000.00) only to Three thousand, five hundred naira (N3,500.00) only.
Information reaching us has it that the President, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reduction in the cost of JAMB UTME Form, NECO, SSCE and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) forms.
According to the report, the reduction will be implemented starting from January 2019 with the cost of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Form dropping from Five Thousand naira (N5,000) to Three Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (N3,500) only, while NECO SSCE will drop from N11,350 to N9,850 only.
This information was disclosed by Adamu Adamu, who is the current Minister of Education of Nigeria. This was announced on Wednesday 28th November, 2018, during the Federal Executive Council meeting that was held in Abuja.
According to Adamu Adamu, the JAMB, NECO and BECE exam bodies are not meant to be revenue generating bodies for the Federal Government, but they are only required to cover costs/operating expenses of the exams.
The minister noted that the obvious increase in the amount being remitted by JAMB and other exam bodies from less than N60m in 2010 – 2016 to 15 Billion in 2017 – 2018 is an indication that the fees being charged could be reduced.
During the announcement, the minister stated that the president directed the bodies to look into the reduction following the significant improvement in revenues being remitted to the Treasury by the Education Agencies.
Meanwhile, we are still looking forward to the 2019 JAMB Form which will be on sale anytime soon.
